Dwerft - linked metadata for media
The dwerft – linked metadata for media is a regional research alliance for innovative media technologies at the traditional location of Potsdam-Babelsberg. transfermedia is both project partner and project manager in this alliance.
dwerft’s vision is to link the whole production and distribution value chain for content in the film business by lossless storage and intelligent cross-linking of metadata in a semantically supported database, the Linked Media Data Cloud (LMDC).
In six subprojects the project partners DRA, filmwerte, Interlake, IRT, Rotor Film and transfermedia production services will develop a variety of innovative media tech solutions for the digital film production: algorithms and artificial intelligence for picture and speech recognition, blockchain for accounting services, file-based media cloud workflows, automated subtitling services for crossmedia distribution, tools for non-fiction productions as well as smart interfaces for external archives and editorial databases.
The dwerft project works from 2018 – 2021 and is part of the MediaTech Hub Potsdam, which was the only media hub to be included in the de:hub initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in 2017.
The project is funded by the BMBF as part of the Innovative Regional Growth Cores PLUS programme.
